Hello team Thailand!!
My name is Allie and I am your team leader! For starters, I cannot stinkin' believe that we will be IN Thailand in 5+ weeks! Can you say, "Hello 80 degree weather? Goodbye snow!?" (Yes, I said "the shallow comment that we are ALL thinking but never say out loud...).
I guess I should tell you a little about myself:
I am 25 and currently live in Toledo, OH where I watch other people's kids and clean houses, for now. I went on the worldrace Human trafficking edition in January 2011. We traveled to Cambodia, THAILAND, India, and Atlanta GA partnering with local ministries in the fight against sex trafficking for 4 months. After returning, I led short term mission trips for Adventures in Missions this past summer all over the United States. 2011 was an absolutely amazing year of growth, community, challenges, and dependence on Jesus.
Why Thailand:
My month in Thailand was my hardest yet most amazing month of my race. It is in Thailand where my heart broke for those entrapped in the sex industry, bur yet experienced the Hope of Jesus simultaneously . It is the month where I began to learn the importance and effectiveness of prayer, the power in the presence of Jesus, and the need for others to speak into my life. The organization that I worked with was legit. The women I was able to minister to in that month changed my life forever. I will never forget them.
I cannot express how STOKED I am to return. For the opportunity to walk the same streets (with you), to potentially see my girls again, to speak truth into these girls lives, and literally be the living presence of Jesus in some of the darkest places in the world. I cannot wait to love each of you, to push you out of your comfort zone, and come along side of you in this AMAZING journey God has you each on!
There are 8 of us total, and I am so excited for our family to be united on the 14th!

My favorites:
the color green, mountains, chacos, spontaneity, true good community, gym shorts and a t shirt, seafood, watching the same tv show series over and over (Gilmore Girls, Greys, Friday Night Lights), 90's movies, good worship. 7 eleven coke icees, reading a good book, and sleeping in.
I don't like:
really spicy food, early early mornings, drama, snoring, showering, rushing somewhere and then waiting (we'll be doing that a lot, and I have learned to bring a book), and closed toed shoes, squatty potties.
