Howdy,
Im Linsey Fields, some people call me Linz, so feel free to. Im originally from Kentucky, but now Im living in Juneau, Alaska. Currently I'm in limbo, taking a year off of school to pursue God's calling in my life. My plans are to start school at University of Nebraska-Lincoln next year, studying Agriculture Education. But with that said, Im open to what ever God wants for my life. School has never been something Im super stoked on. Plus the thought of having one job for the next 40 years of my life is a bit unsettling. I do know though, if God is calling me there I'll go without complaining.
For now Im working at Tracy's King Crab Shack, here in Juneau. The season ends this Saturday, then Ill be substitute teaching till December. From there Im going back to Kentucky to spend the rest of my time with family till I leave for Thailand.
Im very big sports junkie/outdoor junkie. Being in Juneau for the last 4 months has been amazing. Ive climbed 3 mountains, and hiked several trails. For me there is nothing better to do with a free day then taking a group of friends up a mountain side, or hiking to a glacier. Ive also played sports my entire life, every Saturday I play a pickup game of basketball with friends. Im currently looking to get involved more with the community here in Juneau, hopefully with the youth group at the church I attend. But my favorite hobby, if you can consider it one, would be deer hunting/fishing. I actually have a deer hunting trip planned for December with my dad. Wish me luck!! :)
Im pretty easy to get along with. I love to laugh, and enjoy every part of life. My likes would be: JESUS, movies, basketball, cold pizza, tattoos, being scared, extreme sports, Amp energy drinks, late nights, sleeping in, music, SHOWERS!!, Lady Volunteer basketball, football season, reading my bible in nature, driving (anything from cars to motorcycles), trying new things, traveling, road trips, chips and salsa, and laughing. Im pretty talented in sports, I have always had the ability to pick up any sport fairly quickly. So trying new sports is always a challenging way to entertain my self. I love using sports to witness to kids as well. I drink an Amp everyday. I have 6 tattoos, can quote every line to "Billy Madison". Me and my friend I meet this summer drove up to Alaska from Kentucky. I hate healthy food with every fiber of my being. Im surprised I dont weigh 900 lbs. There's lots more about me, just ask!! But dislikes: RV's, beaches, nuts in candy, University of Kentucky sports, cruise ships, reading, running, being late, being bored, sitting around all day, waking up before 10 :), desk jobs, not being able to be outside, extreme heat, humidity, and the feeling of imprisonment.
I have been on one mission trip before, it was a summer project with Campus Crusade for Christ. I spent my entire summer (this past one 2011) in Juneau Alaska. It was a life changing expierence to say the least. It was an all womens project, that focused on reaching the lost women in Juneau, as well as building strong womens community. I fell in love with the City and people of Juneau, thats why I moved back up here for the winter, till I leave for Thailand.
Words can not express how excited I am for this trip, and to meet all of you. Im very excited to jump off a cliff into my faith. To break the boundaries that we like to put God in. To lavish the love of God on these women, and to help Christ name be known to all who seek. To see how Christians around the world worship, and to be a light to my family in the States. Im nervous that my family will not be understanding to the trip. They are very against me going, they are not Christians. I pray that God uses this to bring them to him as well. Im nervous to communicate with Thai people, and to overcome the language barrier. Praying for God to allow us to understand each other. God has been telling me that this trip is going to be very hard, but that he knows all and doesn't give us anything we can not handle. God is giving my complete peace about the trip.
So that's all for now look forward to hearing from everyone and sharing this amazing opportunity with each of you :)
Linsey
